Spotlight on City of Hamilton Citywide Signal ITS/Upgrade Project, the 2023 ITS Project of the Year

In 2023 we had four outstanding nominees for the ITS Midwest Project of the Year.  The winner is the City of Hamilton Citywide Signal ITS/Upgrade Project submitted by TEC Engineering. Congratulations!

ITS Midwest recognizes City of Hamilton Citywide Signal ITS/Upgrade Project as 2023 ITS Project of the Year

“Citywide Signal ITS/Upgrade”

This winning project includes the upgrade of the City's signal infrastructure from a closed loop signal system with dial up and wireless connections to a central-based signal system for the City’s Ninety-None (99) traffic signals.  The project also includes the upgrade of signal controllers, vehicle detection, and improved communication between signals using fiber optic cable, and emergency vehicle preemption. In addition, a dynamic message sign which will display travel time messaging to local destinations is also part of the project.
