ITS Midwest Webinars Series

Members-only event | 1 PDH hour

Synopsis

As infrastructure owner-operators (IOOs) expand their deployment of connected vehicle and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) infrastructure, the distributed and often publicly accessible nature of field components such as roadside units, traffic signal controllers, and sensors has introduced a growing cybersecurity attack surface. While penetration testing is a proven tool for identifying vulnerabilities before they can be exploited, IOOs frequently lack the technical expertise, resources, and shared practices needed to conduct these assessments consistently. This presentation introduces a project under the Connected Vehicle Pooled Fund Study, led by VDOT and the University of Virginia Center for Transportation Studies, to develop a practical, repeatable, and scalable methodology for penetration testing of CV and V2X field equipment.
